About Our Coffee

Where it comes from....

Our green coffee is sourced from independent specialty green coffee buyers committed to transparency and quality, allowing you to connect with the journey of your coffee, from farm to cup.

The suppliers provide a detailed blueprint of each coffee’s origin, farming practices, and sourcing journey. By purchasing directly from the farmers through direct trade, they ensure that farmers receive fair compensation for their hard work. This direct trade approach not only benefits the farmers but also grants Kilted Coffee and our customers access to some of the world’s highest quality coffee beans.

Why choose speciality coffee?

Speciality coffee is inclusive yet often seen as exclusive. The term implies uniqueness, but what sets it apart from supermarket or chain coffee?

Specialty coffee is made from the highest quality Arabica beans, carefully selected and graded for their flavour, aroma, and overall excellence. These beans are often grown in ideal climates, resulting in a richer, more complex taste profile that mass-produced coffee can't match.

Alternatively, commercial coffee is crafted using a mixture of ripe and unripe coffee cherries, typically available in supermarkets and certain coffee establishments..

At Kilted Coffee, each sourced, roasted, and brewed coffee adheres to high quality standards to achieve SCA (Speciality Coffee Association) classification as speciality coffee.
Coffee that scores over 80 on a hundred-point scale which is set by the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) is classed as speciality coffee.

When the coffee exceeds the 80 mark it is renowned for its diverse and vibrant flavors, spanning from fruity and floral to chocolatey and nutty. These unique notes stem from the specific growing conditions, processing techniques, and precise roasting that emphasize the bean's inherent qualities.

Specialty coffee is often produced and sold by small, independent roasters who are passionate about their craft. By choosing our specialty coffee, you’re supporting our family run business who are commitment to quality and sustainability.

Our passion starts at the buying journey and ends with the coffee in your cup.
